Guidance and Counseling at Creekside Elementary

Students often decide in elementary school if they like school and whether they enjoy learning. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as developing character. Students form attitudes about themselves and others. Because the elementary years are so crucial, Creekside has a comprehensive counseling program to help students with life's challenges. Creekside counselors work proactively as a team with staff and parents. Together we can prepare the students to achieve success in school and in their social lives.

In responding to the student's needs, Creekside's counselors develop and lead large and small group guidance activities, as well as provide individual counseling. We work with students in four domains: personal, educational, social and career development.

Counselors don't have a magic wand to make life's problems go away, but we do have special training in how to help students solve problems. We feel that open communication between parents and the school staff is one of the most important ways that we can help students experience academic and social success. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with your counselor to discuss any concerns you may have about you child. Creekside employs two counselors: Happy Alexander works with students in grades K-2, and Robye Andrews works with students in grades 3-5. If we can be of assistance, please call Creekside Elementary and ask for the counselor assigned to your child's grade level.

Your school counselor is available for you and your child and we want to make your child's school experience the best it can be.
